2.3 SELECTING A MIDI DEVICE
To control AXS from an external MIDI device (like a master-keyboard,
a sequencer or another computer) AXS has support for several types of MIDI-IN devices.
- COM-MIDI for MIDI communication using a serial port (COM1/COM2).
- GUS-MIDI for MIDI communication using a Gravis UltraSound.
- SB-MIDI for MIDI communication using a SoundBlaster.
- MPU-MIDI for MIDI communication using a MPU-401.
To select which MIDI ports AXS should use, open the file AXS.INI and
modify the MIDIDEVICE= settings. More than one MIDIDEVICE can be
active at one time, so multiple MIDIDEVICE= lines in the file AXS.INI
are accepted.
Note:
- The SB-MIDI does not function correctly when SB is also selected
as a wavedevice. This problems seems to occur in almost every DOS
program which uses both SB wave and SB MIDI.
- The GUS-MIDI does not function correctly on a GUS PnP when
the PnP card is also used as wavedevice (CODEC).
